Liverpool forward on Leicester City radar
Leicester City are interested in signing highly-rated Liverpool winger Harry Wilson this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.
The 22-year old is currently enjoying a fantastic loan spell at Derby County, who face Aston Villa in the play-off final on Monday.
He has scored 18 goals and assisted another six in 48 appearances for the Rams this season, being one of their key players throughout the campaign.
The Wales international’s displays have caught the eye of a number of Premier League clubs. AFC Bournemouth, Newcastle United, Southampton, Brighton and Hove Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers are all keeping tabs on Wilson’s situation.
It is also believed that German clubs Eintracht Frankfurt and Hertha Berlin are interested, too, meaning that Leicester will not find getting Wilson’s signature easy at all.
One of the reasons why so many clubs want him is because of his versatility. Wilson can play on the left wing, the right wing and in the midfield, as he has done this season – and successfully. Here’s a breakdown of his appearances:
Right winger
Appearances: 22
Goals: 9
Assists: 3
Left winger
Appearances: 10
Goals: 1
Assists: 5
Midfield
Appearances: 16
Goals: 4
Assists: 2
Those are mighty impressive numbers. Leicester could really do with someone of his calibre on the flanks, as they currently lack potency in that position.
Harvey Barnes could very match improve next season, Demarai Gray could as well (optimism klaxon), but there is still the need for more – Wilson can fulfil that need.
Surely, it’s a matter of Leicester pursuing him wholeheartedly than the money. These Foxes are rich.
