Adrien Silva to decide on Leicester City future as loan spell at AS Monaco ends
Adrien Silva will soon be taking a decision on his future at Leicester City as he returns from the loan spell at AS Monaco.
The Portuguese midfielder headed the other way as Leicester sealed a loan move for Youri Tielemans, a move that turned out to be good for both the players in the end.
Silva made 15 appearances for the principality club and was generally good. In fact, he was very good and helped Leonardo Jardim’s side avoid relegation.
The dream in Monaco now over, the 30-year old plans to take some time off of football and decide upon his future.
"“Another season ended this weekend,” he wrote in an Instagram post.“The main mission was accomplished, even if was not the scenario that we wanted.“The club (AS Monaco) will be able to put things right by playing at the top of the table next season.“Now, it is time to take stock, go on holiday, and recharge the batteries.“A big thank you for all of your support.”"
Despite doing well in France, it is hard to think that Brendan Rodgers would want Silva at Leicester anymore.
He might give the former Sporting CP midfielder a chance in pre-season but even that seems unlikely and will be down to whether Silva himself wants to stay, which, again, is unlikely, given how he has been treated at the club.
Leicester should focus on selling him for the maximum price that they can and hopefully bringing Tielemans to the King Power Stadium.
Although there have been reports stating that Leicester have backed out of their pursuit for the Belgian international, there is still some belief that he will eventually be signed up.
The 21-year old scored three and assisted five goals during his loan spell, helping Leicester finish the season strongly.
Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in him. The Premier League trio is also understood to have got in touch with the player’s representatives.
