The dream transfers that would perfectly suit Leicester City
Central midfielders
In the centre of the midfield, there are two highly gifted alternatives to Tielemans who have the potential of playing alongside a remarkably talented midfield of Wilfred Ndidi and James Maddison.
Wylan Cyprien of Nice would be the perfect signing for a multitude of reasons. Still young, aged only 24, everything he brings to the table complements the midfielders he surrounds. An engine, predominantly utilised as a box-to-box man, he has the offensive qualities to influence the game with the maturity of allowing Maddison the freedom to shine and Ndidi the defensive support he requires.
He was a key figure in Nice’s midfield that saw Jean Michael Seri earn a truly deserved place in the Premier League with Fulham and it could be Cyprien’s chance to prove his worth in England’s top tier.
Lee Congerton, Leicester’s new Chief Scout, is known for delving into the French leagues for players. Some of his best recruitments at Celtic were all signed from France, namely Moussa Dembele, Odsonne Edouard and Timothy Weah. His eye for French league talents could see Leicester land the perfect midfielder to complement an already brilliant and youthful midfield.
The other alternative is Pablo Fornals, currently playing for Villarreal CF. Once a key target for Arsenal – seen as the long-term Santi Cazorla replacement – Fornals has gone on to have a very impressive spell in the La Liga. More offensive-minded than Cyprien, Fornals is known for being incredibly direct, with a focus on linking play with the forwards, something Vardy has been lacking this season (until Tielemans and Rodgers’ arrival).
Fornals, like Tielemans, isn’t against tracking back, but he doesn’t shine as well when being limited to defensive responsibilities, though.
