If Harry Maguire stays at Leicester City, which he actually alluded to, it will influence other stars like James Maddison to stay.

Now, don’t get us wrong – Harry Maguire could still leave Leicester City during this summer’s transfer window, sadly. Yet there is promise with regards to him remaining a Fox as well.

Obviously if one of these astronomical amounts we’ve heard touted – or the Leicester hierarchy valuation of up to £70 million for the defender – is realised then it would be difficult or daft of the club to reject it. Whether or not the irreplaceable becomes replaceable or reinvented is up to the academy and recruitment to explore and conquer.

Maguire himself has made it no secret that he wants to eventually play for the most prominent clubs at the highest level continually. Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers should be rather focused on his revolution and attain European football qualification for 2019/20 in that case.

Additionally, the 26-year-old has also said multiple times that Leicester City is the right team for him at present. Along with it being a great place to be a footballer; a top club. Though he has also praised Manchester City, as reported by Manchester Evening News recently.

That coupled with the fact that Pep Guardiola is an admirer of the England player, will worry the Blue Army. However, the six-foot-four centre-back hasn’t commented on the links with the Citizens or Manchester United, preferring only to talk international football while interviewed on Three Lions duty.

Good news for Leicester City

You might thinking this is all speculation – well not all of it. Below is a quote by the defender from BBC Sport:

"“Leicester’s an exciting club to be at – Brendan [Rodgers] has really improved the team in the recent months, and he’s someone we’re looking forward to. I’m sure he will take the club forward.“He’s [Rodgers] definitely got his own aspects in the game, and I’m sure he will improve us. After a good pre-season, I’m sure he’s the man that can help us break into those European spaces.”"

Consequently we can analyze this as a very strong indication that the former Hull City man is more than happy to remain on Filbert Way for at least the coming season. Rodgers is an acclaimed manager who has much respect. Which adds to the superb project at Leicester: youthful calibre, a new training ground coming, experienced winners etc. Maguire has also had no trouble becomingly a mainstay with his country while representing Leicester.

Ultimately a player like the Sheffield-born Fox committing more time to the King Power outfit means others will follow suit. Not to mention a certain quality of professional being compelled to join.

James Maddison is a starlet who will attract interest too; Mirror Sport suggests that Tottenham Hotspur will target the playmaker. Maguire can influence his team-mate very much by not departing. Imagine losing both, and Ben Chilwell, that would be a relative disaster.

Although, per Leicester Mercury, Maguire encouragingly says this to ‘Madders’: “I think at the moment Leicester is a great club for him…he’s going to learn from being at Leicester and I think he’ll keep improving.” This encouragement for Maddison to remain at Leicester City is revealing of Maguire’s own intentions.
