Marc Albrighton’s time as a starter for Leicester City is surely running out if Brendan Rodgers is serious about the club’s top six ambition and a significant modern winger signs.

It is extremely plausible that Leicester City will buy a particularly influential and notable right-winger during this summer’s transfer window. If that notion transpires then Marc Albrighton will almost certainly lose playing time. Not to mention Demarai Gray falling further down the pecking order, if he actually remains a Fox by 10 August.

With regards to Gray it is obvious that he has outstanding talent; also clear is the fact that the Birmingham-born wing-man is not performing to the best of his abilities. Selling the 22-year-old may be the best outcome for the Foxes, and his fledging, but stuttering career. Compounded by Harvey Barnes taking gia place.

Albrighton, on the other hand, still displays grit, determination and ultimately Premier League quality on an almost weekly basis. His contributions to the side over the years helped win the premiership title and make the Champions League quarter-finals. A club legend.

The former-Aston Villa wide-man is a firm favourite with the Blue Army and this next section will be difficult for the faithful to hear. Especially if they are not progressive thinkers, as opposed to the enlightened who want the best for the team.

More from Foxes of Leicester

All good things come to a crescendo

Don’t for one minute think this is a the end for Albrighton at City. No, and of course this is assumption but it is very likely that Albrighton won’t fit the system as well as other younger, arguably more proficient, prospective players. For example if Andros Townsend signs for Leicester City, the Crystal Palace and England man will start ahead of the 29-year-old.

At least, that’s the way Foxes of Leicester perceive the eventuality. Albrighton is 30 in November, adding to the likelihood his time as a consistent starter has past its most prolific era. Though he will surely still play a major role on and off the pitch, probably in every game as a combative, experienced and skilled injection from the substitute bench.

In all honesty an even more adept wing specialist than Townsend may come in; meaning even less chance of game time for the one-time top-flight champion. Brendan Rodgers’ style requires very fast, almost support strikers on either side of Jamie Vardy, giving Gray incentive despite form.

Hot. Maguire can influence Maddison to stay. light

Albrighton’s 66% pass rate, as well as a contribution of two goals and assists in 27 outings last campaign isn’t sufficient for top six entry. Regardless of his industry; which can be supplied by the midfield and Ricardo Pereira. WhoScored also tells us that Albrighton’s best attribute, crossing, is now worryingly down to less than one on average a contest.
