Ivan Perisic is a quality attacker, England fans certainly know that from Croatia’s World Cup semi-final victory. Leicester City pursuing him is significant for their aspirations.

With Leicester City needing a winger and/or a support striker, it comes as no surprise that they are mentioned alongside world-class forwards. Ivan Perisic fits the bill there, and the Croat has been linked with a move to King Power Stadium by Italian media.

Teamtalk, amongst other sports media outlets, claim that the Inter Milan player has been made available for transfer by new manager Antonio Conte. Offers were rejected for the Croatian international in January. Although it is confirmed he desires a move abroad to another club side.

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are apparently interested, however, only Spurs can offer Champions League football which is obviously the preference.

Leicester Mercury reported links to Perisic from Italian media on Wednesday – many observers will be sceptical over the possibility of this deal transpiring – yet LCFC Live covered the rumour nonetheless:

"Leicester City have been linked with a move for Inter Milan forward Ivan Perisic.Italian media outlet Tuttomercatoweb report that the 30 year-old is likely to depart the Nerazzurri this summer as incoming boss Antonio Conte starts to evaluate his squad.Leicester’s Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur have previously been linked with a move for the Croatian international, reportedly valued at around €35million, while Manchester United have also been credited with a long-standing interest.Perisic, who operates primarily on the left-wing, netted eight goals and provided four assists last season as Inter pipped rivals AC Milan to fourth place in Serie A.The former Borussia Dortmund man hit 11 goals in the two seasons before that and has 23 goals for his country in 81 appearances"

While Perisic may have his sights set on a so-called Premier League big six side, Leicester City have that ambition, adroit operators behind the scenes and financial capacity to achieve European football for 2020/21.

Perisic will be age-31 next year so this is probably his final chance to be a major part of a promising, evolving project. And possibly key for Foxes Champions League qualification under Brendan Rodgers. Aside from his impressive goal contribution, assists are a significant element of his game: with 26 in Serie A over four campaigns.

More from Foxes of Leicester

Likelihood of Perisic joining Leicester City

In all honesty we would be surprised to see the former-Wolfsburg man move to LCFC – but Foxes of Leicester wouldn’t be shocked. Stranger things have happened on Filbert Way, as we all know. Frankly we’ve had better players or more decorated professionals become Foxes in the past and during contemporary times.

The Champions League will most likely be the deciding factor in the East Midlands team not signing the Nerazzurri winger. Though with goals and prowess exhibited for his country in prestigious tournaments, first-class playing skills, ability and cleverness – Perisic is the upgrade of elite calibre Leicester desperately need to realise their aspirations. Sky Bet currently have the odds of this deal at 10/1.
