Leicester City are still trying to sign AS Monaco midfielder Youri Tielemans, according to Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur.

The 22-year old has also been the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, which has made it difficult for Leicester to get a deal done.

Much to Leicester’s displeasure, Tielemans did recently admit that the interest from United and Spurs did flatter him before adding that he’ll see which club will he finally move to, as reported by MailOnline’s Will Griffee.

Here’s what the former RSC Anderlecht midfield said:

"“We’ll see which club it will be. The only thing I can say is that things are moving.“A lot of clubs have shown interest and we’ll see in the next few weeks which club it will be“Manchester United and Spurs) are really big teams in England and in Europe so yeah, it’s flattering to hear those names.“For me, it’s good, it gives me confidence. I’ll just try to play my game on the pitch and to do my best.”"

Most of us share a fixation with Tielemans, having seen such sumptuous midfield displays during his loan spell at the club.

In 13 appearances for Leicester, he scored thrice and assisted five goals. That is a formidable return for a central midfielder, especially someone who is so young as well.

It is comforting to hear that Leicester are pursuing him, as there had been reports stating that the price tag had put them off in the chase.

Not that the asking price will not be an issue, but it would not make much sense if Leicester do not sign him because of the very factor. £40 million for a player of his quality and age is nothing in the modern-day transfer market.

Next. Signing this player would show realistic top six intention from Leicester City. dark

If he turns out to be as good as we all think, that £40 million would rise to £100 million in no time. So there is profit to be made in case Leicester want to sell in the future. You can look at it any way and it’s a win-win. Sign him up, please.
