Manchester United could offer Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo in the deal for Leicester City centre-back Harry Maguire – that’s according to The Sun.

Ed Woodward is ready to pay £80 million for the defender – and hand him a bumper £350,000-a-week contract. That’s as much as Mesut Özil earns at Arsenal for being loathed every day.

However, it is also possible that United instead include Bailly and Rojo if Leicester are willing to go down that route.

Seems a good deal, doesn’t it? If the report is indeed true, then Leicester would be stupid to not accept the offer.

To get Bailly in return for Maguire isn’t a bad exchange whatever way you look at it. Leicester are getting a top-class centre-back without the hassle to go into the transfer market and having to unearth another gem.

They would, however, be reluctant to have Rojo. Let us admit it: no one in the Premier League who is serious would want the Argentine any way near their team.

But it is unlikely anyway that United will go so far as to say, “Here, take Bailly and Rojo, and send Maguire to the Old Trafford.”

Bailly is too good to be used in a swap deal – or at least we would like to think so. Expect this rumour to die a slow death and matters to come back to money and Maguire’s preference, which, by the way is Manchester City.
