Leicester City need to make some signings in this important off-season for the club. The Premier League is already over a month into the transfer window as of now.

May 16 marked the time to be alert for Leicester City supporters. Turn on your Twitter notifications for ‘@LCFC’ and receive the transfer news before your mates. Alas, the Blue Army are starved of any incoming transfers – already more than a month into the summer window.

Encouragingly the Foxes have been linked to the types of players desperately needed to fill gaps or add specialist expertise in certain areas: a right-back for development, a proficient winger and a clinical striker. Though nothing, as of yet, has materialized.

Who’s gonna join Leicester City

Feasible additions and alleged players very likely to arrive on Filbert Way include: Luton Town’s James Justin, and former King Power loanee but unfortunately still AS Monaco midfielder, Youri Tielemans.

Presently no other player reportedly associated with Leicester has enough traction to be believed as plausible. The usually dependable Leicester Mercury has rebutted some connections, including: Ivan Perisic, Daniel Sturridge and Arjen Robben amongst others.

Naturally the aforementioned are ageing but would, in theory, suit the Foxes. Not to mention being able to acclimatise to Brendan Rodgers’ style while injecting extra experience at the highest levels.

Why aren’t Leicester acting decisively?

Newly appointment Head of Recruitment Lee Congerton will want to make an impact in his first signings for the Foxes. Congerton worked at Celtic and Chelsea with Rodgers and is assumed to be part of the Northern Irishman’s stipulations for joining.

At Sunderland, along with the Hoops for that matter, Leicester’s new transfer guru made some questionable buys – as well as some very astute acquisitions. Therefore he is out to prove his worth – because he has to!

Previous buying decisions in Leicester’s summer windows have been awful, overpriced and difficult to offload for even a semblance of true value. It is then no surprise that the Foxes won’t dive in to anything uncertain or silly.

Having an inflated market hasn’t been much assistance for the East Midlanders either. It adds to the terrible buys, which contributes to the current tentative decision-making and ridiculous prices. A vicious cycle.

Having a major target like Tielemans means the club, or its recruitment, is focused on one man. And, in this case if not other examples, it is the correct manoeuvre; though strengthening other areas is also mandatory for depth. That is accurate, if the ambition of a top six premiership finish is realistic.

Let’s be honest, if Leicester can spend £27.5 Million, according to Transfermarkt, on Islam Slimani in 2016 then £40M for Tielemans should be a mere formality.

The Foxes now claim to no longer be a selling club; so keeping stars is also a necessity and negates signing risky purchases. This is mainly because the squad is as strong as it possibly ever has been – meaning we don’t need too many new faces introduced.

Decisive action is needed from the Foxes, while still locking down the Belgian starlet. Get the chequebook out, or bank transfer in our modern times, and pay the price! Extortionate as some fees are, finding another Tielemans will be costly anyway – if actually possible. if the Foxes do not act decisively, significant targets and possible additions will be poached.
