Leicester City to complete their first signing of the summer
James Justin will become the first signing of the summer for Leicester City, according to Leicestershire Live.
The Foxes have reached an agreement with Luton Town and will complete the move in time for the full-back to be able to join the team for the pre-season.
Aston Villa were also interested in the 21-year old and reportedly made a £7.5 million bid as well, but it was rejected.
Strangely, Leicestershire Live report that the fee agreed for Justin is even lesser than the £7.5 million that Villa offered for him. If that is indeed the case, then full marks to Leicester for getting an in-demand man without overpaying.
Speaking of demand, however, Ricardo Pereira, who Justin will be a back-up to, is a man in demand.
The Citizens are close to agreeing what will probably be a £50 million deal, and as soon as that goes through, Leicester could have the job of protecting Pereira – or convincing him to stay.
Truth be told, if the Italian champions do come for him, then it will be nearly impossible for Leicester to keep the Portugal international.
Juventus are a European powerhouse who are among the Champions League favourites every season. Will Pereira not want to go there and play alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala and Giorgio Chiellini et al?
Of course he will want that. Any player would want that. Which is a problem if you’re Leicester.
