For Leicester City to fulfil their aspirations, signing Youri Tielemans is vital. If not it may be detrimental to Brendan Rodgers’ project. Thankfully for the Blue Army, progress is being reported.

Any minute now Leicester City should announce their first signing of the current transfer window. Luton’s James Justin will apparently be undergoing a medical imminently after discussing personal terms. A versatile, goalscoring defender who may add another dimension to the squad – or indeed the starting XI.

Yet the major target and most needed incoming player is former-loanee Youri Tielemans. At King Power Stadium the Belgian became a fan favourite almost instantaneously.

Specialised passing, expertise in control and a mind for reading the game worthy of chess, are all attributes of the starlet who made his Champions League debut at the tender age of 16. A necessity desperately needed for the Foxes midfield.

While updating the football community on who will apparently be Leicester’s initial signing of the summer – Justin – Telegraph‘s John Percy also informed us of Tielemans’ status:

"“Leicester are continuing talks with Monaco over a potential deal for Youri Tielemans, who impressed on loan at the King Power Stadium over the second half of the season.“Monaco want around £40m for the Belgium international but Leicester are believed to be making progress in striking a deal.“Rodgers has been assured of major funds this summer in his bid to break the Premier League’s top six, after finishing the last campaign in ninth-place.”"

Well then, City have made vital progress for a player that is vital to Leicester City’s progress. Making sixth, or even seventh, hinges on this signing, in Foxes of Leicester’s opinion. At that age and with the quality he possesses, Tielemans can lead the team in European competition for 10-years or longer.
