According to multiple reports, Leicester City will break their own transfer signing record when they secure Youri Tielemans in the coming week.

Hallelujah! The day us Blue Army members have been praying, hoping and wishing for this month – well since January – is almost upon us. Leicester City should complete the signing of Youri Tielemans in the coming week – finally.

According to multiple reports the deal is impending and will break the King Power club’s own highest fee for an incoming player – Islam Slimani for £28-ish million – by around £15m.

Firstly Leicester Mercury said this on  Saturday, June 29, about the likely acquisition:

"Leicester City are hopeful of a breakthrough in their pursuit of number one summer target Youri Tielemans next week. That’s according to Belgian outlet HLN, who say the Foxes are making slow but steady progress in their bid to land last season’s loan starIt’s understood City proposed a deal of around £40 million to Monaco, which includes midfielder Adrien Silva, who enjoyed a successful loan spell with Monaco when he joined the Ligue 1 club as part of the loan exchange deal. But interest from Premier League rivals Manchester United have complicated a potential deal with Monaco holding out for the biggest possible fee.Though, it appears City are still leading the race with the report claiming the Foxes are hoping for a breakthrough next week."

Then there is Saturday’s Mirror Sport:

"Tielemans is set to return from holiday this week to complete the switch to the King Power Stadium after impressing on loan in the second half of last season.Brendan Rodgers is ready to smash the club record £30 million they paid for Islam Slimani three years ago to complete a deal for Tielemans is rated at £45 million."

This news will, as previously stated, be welcomed by the Foxes and their faithful – this writer can guarantee that! Record or no record, Tielemans is vital for the progress of the club.

While the Mercury go with “hope”, the Mirror is more certain, encouragingly, saying the move is “set” to transpire when Tielemans’ vacation ends and he presumably returns to Filbert Way with had agent et al.

Obviously Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur or other teams could still scupper the deal in an attempt to poach Tielemans at the eleventh hour. Champions League as well as Europa League football is a huge draw for a player already intoxicated with the feeling of competing in the competitions.

However, Leicester aim to place seventh in the premiership which should mean they qualify for European football. Rodgers has even stated that the sixth position is attainable; along with being the club’s aspiration for the upcoming campaign.

This deal could still collapse – so do not think we, or the reports, are informing you that it’s finalised or complete quite yet. Although this news is immensely promising for the prospect of having the Belgian starlet on a permanent basis. We all know how crucial he is to the favourable Rodgers project.
