Newcastle United’s Ayoze Perez will undergo a medical before a transfer to Leicester City this week, according to multiple reports in the media on Tuesday

This transfer rumour certainly came out-of-the-blue – so to speak – on Tuesday. Ayoze Perez to Leicester City. He is certainly a very accomplished player who scores and assists, impressively, at Premier League level.

Us Foxes saw that capacity in all of its glory at King Power Stadium last season: with the Magpie’s wonderful chipped effort. There is a diverse element to Perez’s skill set, as he can play along the forward line or even, surprisingly at 5-foot-10, as an aerial threat. Again, Leicester witnessed that on Filbert Way in 2018/19.

Proposed Leicester City deal

In Tuesday’s ChronicleLive was this piece on the proposed deal:

"Ayoze Perez has met Leicester City officials and could complete a medical at the club this week, according to reports. The Spaniard has been considering the next step in his career after five years at Newcastle United and has spoken openly of his dream of one day playing in La Liga.Valencia have been heavily linked with a move for Perez this summer but it is Leicester City, out of left field, who have been tipped as his next destination.TalkSPORT broadcaster Geoff Peters has claimed that the 25-year-old could ‘possibly even having a medical this week’ after meeting club officials with his agent on Tuesday – which suggests ‘they have agreed a fee’."

Currently there are reports in the media that Perez decided on his departure after Rafa Benitez’s confirmed his own exit from St. James’ Park. The attacker will be a clever addition whose fluidity may gel together the front line; especially with the faltering Demarai Gray and Rachid Ghezzal.

Although it’s not clear where Perez will instantly fit in to the starting side; thanks to friendlies that’ll be no problem. Brendan Rodgers admires intelligent players and implements them expertly.

Statistically the Spaniard supplies a decent amount to the tally: two assists and 12 finishes last campaign; along with 13 goal involvements in 2017/18. As previously mentioned there’s also a quality of linking play to the 25-year-old’s style. Including technical ability usually possessed by the Spanish.

It’s very likely this move will go through, City fans will also love the possible new addition’s effort in tracking back and making a challenge.

More from Foxes of Leicester

Leicester’s marquee signing is probably going to be Youri Tielemans, with that addition costing likely up to £45 million there was never going to be a larger sum for the needed wing signing. Therefore a proven premiership pedigree athlete for – report the Daily Star – around £16m is an astute buy. Yet Sky Sports News quote the figure as £30m – a bit high.
