Leicester City close to signing Youri Tielemans
Leicester City are close to signing Youri Tielemans from AS Monaco for a club-record £40 million.
The Belgian has already arrived in England to finalise the move and will have his medical on Saturday.
Although Leicester are yet to reach an agreement with Monaco, both the clubs are increasingly confident and it is only a matter of time before the transfer is done and dusted.
It has been suggested before that Adrien Silva could go the other way around but at the moment, the Portugal international is a not a part of the deal.
Silva was sent on loan to the Ligue 1 side last season and was largely impressive, which opened up the possibilities of a swap deal in the first place.
But Leicester are aware that there are other clubs interested in the midfielder and there is money to be made off him – which is smart.
He is reported to be Leicester’s replacement for Harry Maguire, who will inevitably leave for a world-record fee for either Manchester City or Manchester United.
£80 million for Maguire is all fun and games until you realise that half of that would be spent on Dunk. No disrespect to him, he’s a decent player but he’s certainly not the type of defender that you want if you’re targeting a top six finish.
Just ask Arsenal. They know a thing or two about defending and defenders and what their role is. Leicester are having a perfect transfer window in every description. They should not ruin it with a transfer that does not make sense.
