Sir Alex Ferguson wants Manchester United to do whatever they can to sign Harry Maguire
Sir Alex Ferguson wants Manchester United to do whatever they can to sign Harry Maguire from Leicester City this summer, according to the Manchester Evening News.
United have already had a £70 million bid rejected by Leicester this week but Fergie is surprised as to why did the club not make an offer earlier in the summer, given how tough it can be to close a deal the more you delay it.
The former United boss saw Maguire in action for the first time about eight years back in the FA Youth Cup final as Sheffield United lost 4-1 to the Red Devils at Old Trafford.
The legendary manager is also believed to have offered the England international some valuable piece of advice at the time since he did spot his potential. Ferguson never gets it wrong, does he?
If he has made his opinion known to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – which he may have – then it is likely that United are going to come back with a bigger and better offer – one that Leicester melt at the sight of.
The Foxes want over £75 million for the centre-back, so the aim here is to obviously make him the world’s most expensive defender. United have a thing for record transfers, so you would be pretty ignorant to rule this one out.
Manchester City are also interested but Leicester are yet to receive any bid from them. Now that they have signed Rodrigo Hernandez, it might be that they finally make an approach.
If they do not, then consider Maguire a United player. Well, consider him gone already anyway.
