Manchester United will only pay £80 million for Leicester City defender Harry Maguire if they are able to offload out of favour striker Romelu Lukaku, according to the Irish Independent.

United have been in negotiations with Inter Milan for the Belgian striker; however, the discussions are yet to reach a breakthrough.

The Serie A side bid £53.9 million earlier this week but that was rejected by the Red Devils.

They are understood to be looking at something in excess of the £79 million that they paid to Everton for Lukaku.

While there is no news about whether or not are Inter willing to pay that much, Lukaku’s latest tweet makes it seem like we are nearing a conclusion.

Could this be it? Could this finally be it? We would all like to think so. No one wants any more Harry Maguire transfer news – not the media, not the fans and not the club either.

Even the news of such exciting arrivals as James Justin, Youri Tielemans and Ayoze Perez has been outshone by the garbage that some of the media outlets have served about Maguire.

Obviously, there is no one who wants the England international to leave the King Power Stadium but the speculation really has become a distraction that no one wants.

If the only way we can get rid of this distraction is an £80 million transfer, then be it. At least the club can move on in time for the next season and, if possible, bring in a replacement as well. That would be great.
