Leicester City defender Harry Maguire is set for his Manchester United medical, as per Fabrizio Romano.

All the details have been taken care of and it is only about paperwork – and the medical, of course – before Maguire becomes the world’s most expensive defender.

Speaking of which, the fee agreed is €93 million, which is well above £85 million and £5 million more than what we thought would be the fee.

We’re all relieved, aren’t we? It has been a mad summer laden with “Maguire to United” rumours and endless reports of an accepted bid or the agreement being reached.

There were also whispers that the 26-year old will stay at Leicester but really, an exit was always inevitable.

Rejecting the opportunity to play for United is quite tough even with their sharp decline since Alex Ferguson called it a day.

When they come for you, no matter how happy you are at your respective club, you do think about it – they are one of the world’s biggest, after all.

Now the question is whether Maguire can handle the pressure that comes with becoming the sport’s most expensive defender ever and playing at Old Trafford.

There is no doubt about the fact that the England international is expected to be a hit right away. The Red Devils are in desperate need of success and the route to that goes through Maguire.

Many a few are already questioning his quality, which is natural in this era of impetuous conclusions, especially when it’s relatively smaller clubs like Leicester that we are talking of.

Now it’s down to Maguire to not just shut his critics up but also make the Leicester faithful proud.
