This season holds much promise for Leicester City and their supporters. That fact is well-known by goalkeeper and club legend Kasper Schmeichel.

Judging by the buoyant Leicester City supporters and the encouraging signs around the club, it feels as though this season may be one of the best in the side’s history.

Everything is in place: quality staff and players; depth in the squad; a more than proficient manager whom has will and the power to attract great athletes; and a top class, generous chairman with a huge bank account.

Foxes of Leicester must be forgiven if we are getting carried away or are raising your expectations beyond eventual actuality. But in reality a sixth place finish in the Premier League is attainable. Yes Manchester United have finally, partially improved; and of course that is partly down to poaching Harry Maguire.

Arsenal have also only recently picked up a new signing which will enhance them towards defining a campaign, in Nicolas Pepe. Yet there is still an air of the unfinished, project wise, around Old Trafford and Emirates Stadium.

Foxes goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel certainty believes his beloved club can up their game and challenge the dominance of the established big six:

"“It’s really important now we find that identity – who are we and what kind of team are we.“Everything is in place; we have an amazing manager, amazing owners, a new training ground and everything is there to establish ourselves.“When you look at the squad, the potential, the youth, the chances are endless. We are a club that believes in the impossible and want to establish ourselves as one of the top clubs.– Kasper SchmeichelVia: BBC Sport"

Well, well, well, if you follow Leicester City as closely as I do, you’ll know Schmeichel is a man of his word and one of respect and honesty. Therefore his claims are usually fairly accurate, perceptive and insightful – and FoL would have to agree with pretty much everything he says here.

With Maguire’s imminent exit, there is one main question: who replaces him? Our money and desire lies at the marvellous playing feet of Bournemouth’s Nathan Ake. £40 million is a lot – half of our current centre-back’s prospective fee – but Ake is a class act. Additionally he can replicate most of what Maguire provided, while adding more guile and grace, but less height and strength.
