Harry Maguire’s £80 million transfer to Manchester United will be finalised at any minute. In the meantime, Leicester City apparently target Nathan Ake and James Tarkowski.

It is very likely that Maguire’s deal with the Red Devils will be completed on Sunday. England’s defender has apparently been pushing for the move.

And now, eventually, after everyone involved had the grueling task of monitoring the situation all summer, its happening. Leicester City waited for the right amount, and got more than expected.

After all, £80m is a quite stunning fee for any player, certainly for one not recognised as the nation of world’s best – but that is an inflated market for you. At Foxes of Leicester we wish the Sheffield-born defender all the best, as long as it doesn’t interfere with the Foxes’ own promising progress.

Reinventing for Leicester City

Leicester have to be very wary and astute when playing the transfer game to replace their departing centre-back. Other clubs will be more than aware of the enormous and overpriced sale the King Power team have just conducted. Clubs will attempt to defraud the east Midlands side of more than they should pay.

Although with one of Bournemouth’s Nathan Ake and Burnley’s James Tarkowski the desired replacements, Leicester could be dealing with much worse, more experienced clubs in the domain of valued commodities. Or will the two sides’ frugality work against Brendan Rodgers’ team?

Here is an update on the targets:

"Leicester City are targeting Bournemouth’s Nathan Ake and Burnley’s James Tarkowski as potential replacements for outgoing centre-back Harry Maguire. No bids have yet been submitted for either defender but both are deemed to have the qualities Brendan Rodgers desires with the City boss looking for an aggressive, defensively-sound, ball-playing centre-back.City have a long-standing interest in Ake, who has impressed greatly with the Cherries, featuring in every Premier League game over the past two seasons.[Tarkowski] had built a reputation as a ball-playing centre-half during his spell at previous club BrentfordVia LeicestershireLive"

The article from Leicester Mercury also states that Burnley don’t want to sell English International Tarkowski. In addition Leicester are allegedly planning their swoops within 48 hours. Obviously it won’t be both players coming in; but either is said to cost up to £40m.

Would you spend half the Maguire money on one of these players? This writer would definitely buy Ake for that price. His prowess is underrated: as a sprinter, tackler, ball player, playmaker and goal scorer.

As you can see above, Sky Sports broke the story late Saturday night.
