Reports: Former Leicester City striker could return home?
Former Leicester City striker Leonardo Ulloa could soon be returning to the East Midlands – just not where his fans would have hoped.
According to Spanish outlet Marca, Nottingham Forest are one of a number of clubs interested in the Spaniard, who now wants to return to Europe.
Reading are another English side keen on the 33-year old, while Alaves, Real Betis and Leganes are also being touted as his possible destinations.
Currently plying his trade in the Liga MX with Pachuca, Ulloa has so far scored14 times in 34 appearances for the Mexican outfit.
He is yet to find his goalscoring touch this season, though, partly because he has only played 24 minutes in the two appearances he has made as yet. He wasn’t a part of the squad in the last game.
It is clear as to why would Ulloa want to come back to Europe, where he will obviously get the sort of happy ending that he might be looking for for a career that is now nearing its end.
His best days were undoubtedly his days at Leicester. A return of 20 goals in 102 appearances may not make it look like he was any good, but he was.
Anyone and everyone who watched every bit of the title-winning 2015/16 season would know how important Ulloa was.
He assisted Jamie Vardy’s equaliser against Stoke City in a 2-2 draw, scored the winner against Norwich City in a 1-0 win, a late equaliser against West Ham United in a 2-2 draw at the back end of the season and a brace against Swansea City in a 4-0 win.
Now that’s a lot of defining contributions. Here’s hoping he gets the move of his choice.
