Before the transfer window deadline on August 8 Leicester City will likely sign another player. That’s if you believe Brendan Rodgers and realistic transfer rumours.

Leicester City will look back on this pre-season as a very successful one: unbeaten, only a few goals conceded and thoroughly assessed all their players. Most of all though, their signings have been excellent.

The three most significant incoming players were: James Justin from Luton Town; Ayoze Perez joined from Newcastle United; and the pièce de résistance, Youri Tielemans.

Belgium’s starlet played a key role in the final third of 2018/19 on loan at King Power. Now he is a permanent Fox thanks to a club record fee, as AS Monaco received a reported £35 million for the midfielder. That price was surprisingly refreshing in this era of enormous values.

Maguire leaves Leicester City

Unfortunately Leicester City’s highest-profile as well as most proficient defender, Harry Maguire, left the club. He made a world record with his £80m pricetag in the move to Manchester United. This left Brendan Rodgers stating that the club will ‘activate plans’ concerning buying a new centre-back:

"“I think it’s something we have been preparing for. The club and the recruitment team have been very, very good.“We have got a number of options if Harry does go, that we will look at. And that’s something that has always been in the pipeline, really. I think it’s always important at this stage of the season, if you are going to lose a player and a player of that quality, that the options are there.“That’s something the club has and we will see over the course of the next 48 hours if we need to activate those.”– Brendan RodgersVia: Leicester Mercury"

James Tarkowski of Burnley and Nathan Ake of Bournemouth have both been touted as the targets Leicester are monitoring before deadline. Yet Ake has apparently been deemed too expensive, while the Foxes don’t want to pay Tarkowski’s fee either.

Incoming winger

It seems increasingly likely that Dennis Praet will also arrive on Filbert Way as the latest transfer unveiling, too. This almost certainly ensures at least one more Foxes signing before the transfer window deadline on Thursday, August 8 at 5p.m.

Praet is another Belgian target who is 25-years-old and a midfielder. He likes to attack with his favoured skills including: passing, layoffs, one-twos and through balls. Imagine a backup for Tielemans and James Maddison in the No.8 role.

More from Foxes of Leicester

LeicestershireLive has also said that Rachid Ghezzal is being offered as part exchange for the Sampdoria man. Interestingly, the Red Devils international is not in the Sampdoria squad for a friendly on Wednesday evening, making the switch even more feasible.
