A former Leicester City midfielder and champion has endured a torrid couple of seasons following a big money move away from King Power Stadium. Now his career looks to be resurrected.

Danny Drinkwater has undoubted pedigree and quality as an elite footballer: having began as a trainee with Manchester United; winning the Premier League with Leicester City; and making a big money move to Chelsea in a fairly rapid space of time.

Though the transfer to Chelsea in August, 2017 for an astonishingly inflated price of £35 million was a disaster. Wow – a blinkered, trophy associated price if ever we’ve seen one. In fact Drinkwater has only appeared in competitive matches for the Pensioners 12 times; that’s twelve outings in two years!

For goodness sake, why didn’t Drinky request a transfer earlier, he’s been out-of-favour through three managers’ regimes!? Some onlookers suggest he was happy to sit back and collect hundreds of thousands of pounds a month for doing nothing. We, at Foxes of Leicester, find that rumour difficult to believe.

Career resurrection for Ex-Leicester City player

Thankfully for the central-midfielder, the time came on transfer window deadline day for his career resurrection in the shape of Burnley. Turf Moor seems a perfect place for his rejuvenation; boss Sean Dyche is a taskmaster who still maintains respect though pushing his lesser valued, yet talented roster.
