Leicester City signed attacking midfielder Dennis Praet on transfer deadline day. What has the player said and tweeted since joining Leicester City?

Leicester City conducted their transfer window business in a simply brilliant manner this off-season. That is, of course, if the particularly promising incoming signings perform to the best of their abilities in 2019/20.

Significant first team acquisitions include: Ayoze Perez who came in from Newcastle United for £30 million; James Justin arrived from Luton Town costing £8m; and last but certainly not least, Youri Tielemans incoming from AS Monaco for an apparent £35m.

Then there was a slight surprise package – similarly to the purchases of Perez – in the shape of attacking midfielder Dennis Praet from Sampdoria for a reported £12m.

Praet at Leicester City

Praet is another modern No.8/No.10/playmaker type. He is a proficient European league performer and a Belgium international. Last season his statistics in terms of goal involvement weren’t prolific by any means: five in 34 Series A appearances. But he is a key pass specialist.

Some people have said Leicester City don’t need Dennis Praet because Maddison and Tielemans have those spots sewn-up. Well, we think it’s a shrewd move by Brendan Rodgers in order to keep the duo on their toes and at the top of their game. Obviously there’s also Matty James, Andy King and Adrien Silva waiting as understudies for this position. Though they are far down the pecking order.

Most observers and Blue Army members also assumed, expected and wanted another expert winger to be bought. There was also the matter of a top-quality centre-back being needed as replacement for Harry Maguire – which never materialised disappointingly. However Caglar Soyuncu and Filip Benkovic are highly rated.

Praet spoke upon his Filbert Way arrival:

"“I’m very, very excited,” he told LCFC TV after completing negotiations. “It was a last-minute call, but I’m really excited to be here and that I’ve signed for this big club.“I always dreamt about playing in the Premier League and if a team is developing well like Leicester is now, I have interest in them, so it’s good and I was really happy.“It’s a perfect step for me. It’s a very nice project and I’m going to try to help the Club do as well as possible.”For more go to: lcfc.com"

On his official Twitter account, the Belgian also praised Sampdoria and their fans.
