Reports: Frank Lampard wants Ben Chilwell at Chelsea
Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell has emerged as a target for Chelsea, according to The Sun.
Frank Lampard, as is the case with many, is understood to be a fan of the England international and wants to have him signed as soon as the transfer ban is uplifted.
Leicester’s asking price being £70 million, we’ll see whether the former Chelsea midfielder really is a fan. If he is, he shouldn’t have much of an issue with the valuation.
Manchester City, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have previously shown interest in the 22-year old as well; however, none of them has made a formal approach as yet.
Some times, it feels like being a Leicester fan is all about dealing with more transfer rumours than actual footballing discussions – the latter being what is missing too often.
The summer was all about whether Harry Maguire will stay or not. One day Manchester United were in for him, the other they had either signed him or given up on him.
All of this continued for months before the Red Devils finally made him the world’s expensive defender. These days, he’s busy bossing the Old Trafford pitch.
Now it seems it is Chilwell’s turn to make the headlines for the wrong reasons.
If you think he’s not going to be in the vanguard of football’s rumour machine in the coming months, then you might want to have a change of opinion.
Regardless, Leicester travel to Stamford Bridge this weekend. Get ready for “What Lampard said to Chilwell in the dugout” articles.
