With the main European football leagues still able to make transfers until September 2, Leicester City will offload some unwanted players. These three are likely to leave.

Brendan Rodgers had proclaimed that around five players are surplus to roster requirements for Leicester City. With three of the Foxes expected to leave on loan or permanently before the majority of the European transfer windows finally slam shut on September 2.

Daniel Amartey and Papy Mendy haven’t featured in either of the Premier League matchday squads so far this campaign. While Amartey is a “valuable” part of the team, according to the Northern Irishman, he is also admittedly low in the pecking order at King Power Stadium.

With regards to Mendy, he is another proficient defensive-midfielder, though the Foxes have an abundance of talent in that position. Wilfred Ndidi and Hamza Choudhury are so impressive they’ve actually been starting together; a selection which is unnecessary versus Sheffield United on Saturday.

Mendy and Amartey are out-of-favour but thought to be remaining as back-up along with Carabao Cup performers:

"Regarding Mendy:“Hamza (Choudhury) has done very well. Wilf (Ndidi) has done very well. I don’t need three defensive midfielders (in the matchday squad).”On Amartey:“The issue with Daniel is that when he was out (with a broken ankle sustained last October), there were other guys that have jumped in front.”– Brendan RodgersRead more at Leicester Mercury"

Now on to the peripheral players that should be shipped out: Rachid Ghezzal, Fousseni Diabate and Adrien Silva. Firstly, Ghezzal has struggled at Leicester; with the pace of the game, the physicality and, in all honesty, the skill level.

Yes, we can YouTube these signings and get excited about a couple of solo and long-range goals in French Ligue 1. Yet, many imports just struggle to produce in the premiership – widely considered the best globally. Ghezzal has many fine attributes, Foxes of Leicester encouraged him, as well as longed to see him take on and glide past his man to the end of a key shot, cross or pass. He never particularly did.

Next up is Diabate, another who has an impressive skill set to potentially light up the game at elite levels but hasn’t exhibited more than promise. Finally there is Adrien Silva. We are not going to explain what a disaster for he and Leicester City  his transfer has been, because the scenario been covered comprehensively. Rodgers told the media this on Thursday:

"Rodgers on Diabate, Ghezzal“It’s difficult for the likes of Diabate and Rachid because there are players in front of them.“There will be, in the next few weeks, opportunities for these guys to go and play [at other clubs].”On Silva“There has been interest in Adrien.”Silva is supposed to be edging close to a move to AS Monaco.Quotes via: LCFC Live"
