Adrien Silva completes loan move to AS Monaco
Leicester City midfielder Adrien Silva has completed a season-long loan move to AS Monaco.
He joins Islam Slimani at the Ligue 1 club, who has also signed on a season-long loan with Monaco having the option to buy.
Signed from Sporting CP in the summer of 2018, Silva has never really been able to establish himself as a first-team regular at Leicester.
He has only made 21 appearances over the course of two years at the King Power Stadium, and while he has impressed at times, he has mostly been underwhelming.
There were whispers that he could finally have a role at Leicester after a successful spell with Monaco last season but once the Foxes signed Dennis Praet and Youri Tielemans, it was clear what the Portuguese international’s fate was.
In all probability, this is going to be the last time he has moved to a different club from Leicester.
There’s a high chance that Leonardo Jardim will push to sign him on a permanent basis, and Brendan Rodgers would want that as well to avoid any unnecessary baggage in his squad.
The chances of the same happening with Slimani, however, are bleak.
He really has lost any nous of how you score a goal, so it is going to take some effort for Monaco – and the Ligue 1 defenders – to get him to find the back of the net.
Here’s hoping both the loanees can discover their best and be a hit in France. It not only helps Leicester but it helps their careers, too.
