James Maddison will join Manchester United, says former Leicester City right-back Danny Simpson.

The 22-year old was on song for Leicester once again as he starred in the 2-1 win over Sheffield United.

As well as assisting Jamie Vardy’s opener, Maddison completed four successful dribbles and made two key passes in what was comfortably a complete display.

The result? As we now expect, someone predicting him to be playing for a bigger club very soon. This time, it was Leicester’s own Simpson, who reckons the no.10 will eventually be plying his trade at Old Trafford.

"“Yeah. He, for me, is world class,” Simpson said when asked on Sky Sports if he thinks Maddison will play for Manchester United.“I think people are speaking right now but honestly I think for an English player as well, honestly he’s world class and he’s only going to get better and better.“He’s that good, honestly. Honestly, he’s got it all. He’s quick in his mind so I think he doesn’t need to have blistering pace running past people because he’s clever and he thinks before everyone else.“He gets in them little pockets, gets into the right spaces, he’s kind of got eyes in the back of his head. The way he receives the ball and turns and puts defenders on the back foot.“So he doesn’t have to be your typical ‘I’m going to run past you and beat you’ because his qualities are there with his vision and his passing.”"

When the rumours of United, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool’s interest in Maddison were doing the rounds, The Sun reported that Maddison wants to stay where he is, stating that he is happy where he is.

The report also suggested that Brendan Rodgers could even try and give his star midfielder an improved contract as a deserved reward for his displays for the side. It could certainly help put-off his potential suitors.

At this point, it would be a bit silly were Maddison to leave. He has a leading role at the club and is central to the future plans, he has a top coach and fantastic young players around him. That’s all that any player would really want.

But that said, the lure of a big club is something else. And when they knock on your door, you just cannot ignore it – like Harry Maguire couldn’t when United came for him. Destined to leave next season, isn’t he?
