Two Leicester City players have made it into Jamie Redknapp’s Premier League Team of the Week for Daily Mail.

After their impressive showing in the 2-1 win over Sheffield United, James Maddison and Kasper Schmeichel have both been picked by the former Liverpool midfielder in a team that has no players from three of the Big Six.

Only Liverpool have more players in the XI (three), while Newcastle United – who beat Spurs 1-0 on Sunday – Chelsea and Leicester all have two each.

Here’s the team in full:

GK: Kasper Schmeichel (Leicester City)

LB: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)

CB: Joel Matip (Liverpool)

CB: Paul Dummett (Newcastle United)

LB: Patrick van Aanholt (Crystal Palace)

CM: David Silva (Manchester City)

CM: Mason Mount (Chelsea)

CM: James Maddison (Leicester City)

ST: Tammy Abraham (Chelsea)

ST: Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

ST: Joelinton (Newcastle United)

Is anyone really surprised to see Leicester players featuring in a TOTW? If someone is, then he has not been following the Foxes for a while.

There has been no shortage of pundits who have tipped Brendan Rodgers to lead Leicester to a top six finish and the early signs are all good.

United’s poor start has injected more belief into the East Midlanders’ camp, and with the struggling Spurs set to play a very-very good looking Arsenal this weekend, fourth-placed Leicester will hope they can open up a gap of sorts early in the season.

Next. James Maddison will join Manchester United, says Danny Simpson. dark

They play AFC Bournemouth at home on Sunday and a win would mean that they stay in the top four.
