Following Leicester City’s 3-1 victory over Bournemouth, Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers hailed two-goal hero Jamie Vardy.

Bournemouth – like Wolves, Everton and, according to their fans, West Ham United – are all potential rivals to Leicester City’s aspiration of finishing seventh in this season’s Premier League. In reality, the Foxes are chasing teams like Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea for sixth place in 2019/20.

Yet the King Power club ultimately blew the south coast opposition away, with striker Jamie Vardy absolutely outstanding. There were, in fact, many excellent performances all over the park: Caglar Soyuncu cemented his position with another brilliant display.

Statistically and consummately in charge of his surroundings. If the Turk transforms his clearances into long passes then he’ll quickly become a hot commodity in world football.

Additionally, Youri Tielemans returned to superb form once more in midfield; partially outshining senior England squad member James Maddison. Although Maddison himself was also influential, in Foxes of Leicester’s opinion, the Belgian was exceptional. While the supremely talented ‘Madders’ must increase his output to see him reach elite potential.

However, it was Vardy who stole the show with a brace to his name. Whilst he also set-up Tielemans’ goal with a determined run and clever low drive into the box to find the Belgium international.

Gareth Southgate must have been very disappointed when the Leicester forward hung up his Three Lions boots; retiring from his nation to focus on his club career. Saturday’s sublime volley is already a contender for goal of the season, surely.

After the match, Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers spoke to the media and praised his number nine:

"“He was (unplayable) today, I have always said it. He is a dream to work with, a player that can make the difference in this league,” said the Foxes boss.“To have that type of talisman up front, for a manager or a coach it’s amazing, not just in his goals, two goals, different types of goals and he has shown his qualities there, but look how hard he works.“The intensity, how he sets the team off in the press, and his hunger. Everyone follows behind him.“I thought it was an amazing performance by him, and obviously the team showed a real physicality and intensity in the game today and it was a great three points for us.”– Brendan RodgersVia: Leicester Mercury"
