James Maddison is happy where is and would not leave for Manchester United, says Leicester City legend Steve Walsh.

As Leicester take on United next week in what is a mouth-watering encounter with endless possibilities, discussions concerning Maddison’s future in the East Midlands are relevant once again.

Harry Maguire has already left the King Power Stadium for the iconic Old Trafford, and there remains no shortage of people who expect Maddison to follow suit.

Walsh, however, does not happen to be one of them. Speaking exclusively to Express Sport, he said:

"“He’s happy where he is, that’s number one.“And I think he’s grateful that Leicester gave him a chance in the Premier League because he was playing for Norwich and, OK, doing very well, but it’s a big step up.“We spent some good money (£20million) on him and are now developing him into a top-class player. I think he understands the grass isn’t always greener on the other side and I’m sure he’s a loyal kind of guy, he seems it.“He’s down to earth and a great lad. He’s got everything to make him one of the top players in the world if he continues with the progress he is making.”"

Maddison has started this season on just as bright a note as he ended the last season on.

In four Premier League games, he has two assists already and was excellent in the wins over AFC Bournemouth and Sheffield United in particular.

His reputation now only getting better and a place in Gareth Southgate’s England surely a matter of when rather than if, it would be a bit silly were the 22-year old to leave.

He has a leading role at the club and is central to the plans going forward, he has a top coach and fantastic young players around him. That’s all that any player would really want.

But that said, the lure of clubs like United is something else. And when they knock on your door, you just cannot ignore it – like Maguire couldn’t when the Red Devils came for him.
