Doubts over 5 key Manchester United players for Leicester City visit
Five key Manchester United players face late fitness tests ahead of the clash with Leicester City, as the Premier League returns this weekend.
With the international break coming to an end, Foxes of Leicester takes a look at the state of Manchester United, who entertain Leicester City on Saturday.
When the Premier League has a two weeks hiatus, we all miss it. There is, however, a chance to rate and evaluate Foxes for their nations. Ben Chilwell had a decent match in England’s 5-3 win over Kosovo, after being benched for Tottenham Hotspur’s Danny Rose in the Bulgaria clash.
If Chilwell can add invention and more end product, including goals from the great positions he reaches, he can be one of the preeminent left-backs in the world. His adroitness and speed is vital in advancing Leicester’s forward moves. Similarly to counterpart Ricardo Pereira on the opposite flank – both need to be especially significant versus a side like United.
James Maddison was overlooked by Gareth Southgate once more this week. Although the playmaker is in the squad, he looked on as a substitute for both Three Lions contests. Mason Mount came in and, oddly, jumped ahead of Maddison. Getting his senior England cap before his friend from the Under-21 set-up.
It’s not that the Chelsea man didn’t deserve his international debut, he’s been excellent in the top-flight division. Yet Southgate could and probably should have given them both a minimal run out – because both may be huge parts of Euro 2020.
Maddison’s statistics speak volumes so we can only assume the former performs better in Southgate’s training sessions. Surely Leicester’s No.10’s time will come.
