Leicester City beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at home but could have been 2-0 down after a controversial VAR decision. Match winner James Maddison may have been injured.

The Premier League returned on Friday evening, with viable Leicester City rivals for seventh or higher, Bournemouth, beating Southampton 3-1. Manchester United lost at West Ham United on the Sunday.

Indeed, the Red Devils – along with Chelsea and Arsenal – are certainly further strengthening the mental positivity of the Foxes. Spurring sentiment like this from James Maddison:

"“Leicester should be seen as a top team because we’ve got top players and a top manager.”Via: lcfc.com"

Maddison was the club’s Man of the Match versus Spurs: his goal and general performance were described as wonderful by Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers. Although the Northern Irishman has been keen to point out that “Madders” is young and learning. An obvious, if still necessary observation.

In Foxes of Leicester’s opinion Rodgers needs to understand that his player needs freedom on the pitch. And, unless completely unavoidable, it is mandatory that Maddison be deployed in a general centre but, allowable to roam, position.

More from Foxes of Leicester

Sadly, Maddison was seen limping with an issue at the end of the game versus the North Londoners, Rodgers also updated fans on that issue:

"“He took a heavy knock on his ankle, so we will see how he is tomorrow [Sunday – in advance of Monday’s training session].”Via: LCFC Live"

Up and coming Leicester City

In fact, many observers can now view Leicester as a legitimate threat to big six domination. However, breaking the monopoly means consistency for another seven months roughly. Additionally the East Midlanders will surely need to retain their stars in the January transfer window; as well as possibly even investing in the market themselves.

Newcastle United are up next for the Foxes, again at King Power Stadium, on Sunday. A must win contest if these lofty top six ambitions are realistic. Leicester City’s No.10 would be sorely missed; though it may lead to an opportunity for Dennis Praet and Marc Albrighton to take a chance in the starting XI.
