REPORTS: Caglar Soyuncu a Manchester City ‘target’: Leicester City
Can we really believe breakout Leicester City centre-back Caglar Soyuncu is a Manchester City target? Pep Guardiola is apparently monitoring the Turk.
Positive dissemination surrounds Leicester City’s revelatory centre-back Caglar Soyuncu. In the most breakout of breakout seasons, he has replaced and eclipsed the good work done by £80 million man Harry Maguire – now at Manchester United.
Maguire has been decent for his new club, the Red Devils, yet they are generally in a tumultuous position at present. However, he is the statesman at the back for them and their faithful have seemingly taken well to the England defensive man.
Though it is the rival Manchester club, City, that now allegedly target another Fox: Citizens boss Pep Guardiola is apparently a fan of the Turkish international Caglar Soyuncu. Additionally, the Spaniard presumably has his transfer team and scouts monitoring the player, his situation and creating a basis for a bid – if what has been reported is to be believed.

Along with talkSPORT, the Guardian is also getting in on the act:
"Pep Guardiola’s gaze is still fixed on a burly Leicester defender. And no, we won’t be seeing Wes Morgan’s second coming as an elite title-inspiring force at the back for a different City. The player who has got Pep rubbing his palms giddily is Caglar Soyuncu…Via: Guardian"

Now, we all know the Sky Blues have centre-half issues: England defender John Stones is injured; as is Aymeric Laporte but possibly for the entire term; they also released and didn’t replace captain Vincent Kompany. Therefore Brazilian defensive-minded midfielder Fernandinho has been filling in at centre-back. Additionally there are a few youth team members that may make the step-up for Man City; as they are with the champions, we can expect their eventual class.
Meanwhile, as stated, the 2018/19 title winners are evaluating their options for January. Or, if they consider themselves sufficient for the remainder of the campaign – Stones isn’t out for long – it may be in the summer transfer window where the Foxes struggle to retain their rising star. Maybe a new contract with an enormously substantial release clause, around £100 million, is the correct manoeuvre at this point?!
