Star Leicester City centre-back Jonny Evans can walk into Manchester United, says Graeme Souness.

In case you have forgotten, Evans is a former United player and he had a pretty good time at OId Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson, winning three Premier League titles, four Community Shields – if that counts – two league cups and a FIFA Club World Cup.

Now, as he continues to put in the kind of displays that Fergie must have known he was capable of, he is grabbing a lot of attention and deservedly so.

Alongside Caglar Soyuncu, he has formed one of the league’s most formidable centre-back pairings, and as a result, he is eligible to play for United (again) in Souness’ opinion – whether they are eligible for Evans is a different question altogether.

Speaking on Sky Sports, here’s what the Paul Pogba fan said:

"“Jonny Evans and [Caglar] Soyuncu will enjoy that midfield in front of them.“He walks into the Manchester United team for me when you look at what United have at the back.“He can make passes, senses danger.“He’s all round a top class centre-half for me.”"

All of this “he walks into United” rubbish is really getting mundane now. It is not even a clickbait-obsessed journalist’s go-to piece of news anymore as no one reads it. No one wants to read it.

United are a mess and quite a bad one. We all have realised by now that one or two signings here and there are not going to do any good to them, so none of the ” United need to sign him” or “James Maddison what the Red Devils need” bunkum makes any sense.

Next. Two Leicester City players in Garth Crooks’ team of the week. dark

Besides, why does every good showing have to be followed by United links? Pundits, especially those at Sky Sports, need to do better.
