‘Stay as far away as possible’: Jamie Vardy’s advice from Leicester City boss
Jamie Vardy spoke at length this past weekend about the role he plays for Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City and the advice the manager gives him for matches.
Leicester City are riding high in the Premier League with a current position of third behind Manchester City and Liverpool. Potentially the ‘best of the rest’: considering the new categorisation of the position behind the two giants. It was sixth, but that position may no longer be as significant or relevant.
During Brendan Rodgers’ tenure at King Power Stadium, the Foxes have proven themselves worthy as the successful breaker of monopolies in the division. They did so by becoming the standout team around seventh place; now that Wolverhampton Wanderers have hit the grounding reality of a difficult second season.
Everton were seen as a rival for the new status – they are well off the form which would see them qualify for European football through the English top-flight. Bournemouth are the other realistic challenger; though this writer sees them as a legitimate eventual occupier of sixth or lower, possibly.

Leicester City prowess
Jamie Vardy has fired Leicester into progress mode with patience through the Claude Puel era, and subsequently an abundance of goals presently: five in five premiership games.
On Sunday the former-England forward spoke candidly to BBC2’s Match of the Day program, about what Rodgers expects and asks of him on match-days:
"On staying high up the pitch“If I came and got involved I would probably get told off by the gaffer! He’s said we are going to keep lot of possession, he doesn’t want me to get involved whatsoever, if I can stay as far away as possible creating space for others to get into.”– Jamie VardyRead much more at LCFC Live"
So, there you have it – Vardy is given freedom from all backtracking and defensive responsibility. Similarly to Matt Le Tissier’s role under Alan Ball at Southampton. It’s very intriguing to hear secrets from the striker himself – Foxes of Leicester wonders if the Northern Irishman at the Foxes helm would want his star attacker revealing the knowledge for other managers and defenders to learn.
