Jamie Vardy could wreak havoc when Leicester City face Liverpool on Saturday, says Jurgen Klopp.

The 32-year old has been in red-hot form this season, netting five goals in seven Premier League games – he has scored 13 times since Brendan Rodgers’ appointment.

As the Foxes now prepare to take on league leaders Liverpool, Klopp is not oblivious to the obvious threat posed by Vardy.

His warning to his side is especially timely, given the way the Reds blew a three-goal lead at home to Red Bull Salzburg in their UEFA Champions League group stage tie on Wednesday.

But for Mohamed Salah, it would have ended as an embarrassing night for the Merseyside giants.

"“I am sure Brendan Rodgers thinks if we defend like we did tonight then probably Jamie Vardy will run five times alone with the goalkeeper,” said Klopp.“It was a very important lesson for us tonight. We will learn but we have to learn quick. I knew before that we have to improve a lot but now everybody knows it probably.”"

There is no defender in the world, who, in his right mind, wants to tasked with stopping a player like Vardy. Not even Virgil Van Dijk would want that.

He does not do much over the course of the game.  In fact, he is only averaging 20 touches a game in the league this season. How the Leicester forward makes life hell for his opponents is by playing right off the shoulder.

Vardy is forever willing to go in behind, and once he is off, you are not going to catch him or the ball. That is world-class movement, frightening pace and excellent finishing all put into one man.

How many do we have around of the ilk? He cannot offer much on the ball but whatever he does offer, he is better than 90% of the strikers at that.
