Manchester United have set their sights on Leicester City duo Ben Chilwell and James Maddison, according to The Sun.

The Red Devils are prepared to pay a combined £130 million for the Leicester stars and have been taking the necessary steps towards the transfers.

To begin with, United already have a scouting report in place. Looking at their transfer record, however, you would doubt they have a report at all.

But it is what a source close to the club claims anyway.

"“We have already compiled a scouting report of both of them. We have been watching them for a few years now.“They fit all the right requirements and criteria in terms of quality and keeping an English core which is important.“Ole likes them but it would be difficult to get them both at the same time. We will have to wait and see what happens.”"

United sit 12th in the Premier League table, devoid of any vision, any direction, ambition or any course of action that they think best suits them.

Add to that, there is no hope of them getting better anytime soon. In fact, it will only get worse.

On the contrary, Leicester are fourth in the table and within touching distance of Manchester City – at least in terms of points.

They have got a manager in Brendan Rodgers who knows what he is doing – something that you would not say of United, who have been clueless under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – and players who really want to take Leicester to an altogether different level.

So the question here is: what exactly is it that Maddison and Chilwell would want to go to Old Trafford for? Barring money, there is not one convincing reason. Not even one.

They will leave some day – that is inevitable – but it is important that they leave for the right club. Otherwise, it can go downhill very quickly.
