During his pre-match press conference, Brendan Rodgers explained how Jamie Vardy was given an “extra few days away” with family after difficult week.

Jamie Vardy is 33 in January, although the ageing process has only seemed to refine his talent considering his pace is the same and he finishes all manner of ways. And, believe this writer: the Leicester City No.9 is highly underrated and up there with the all-time Premier League greats.

This season the former Fleetwood Town player has managed six direct goal involvements over eight top-flight matches. At age-32 that is impressive; especially with the fact that five are goals. Not to mention neither he, or his team-mates, are yet firing on all cylinders. Reaching only a metaphorical third/fourth gear in 2019/20 thus far, in Foxes of Leicester’s opinion.

Big things are happening at the King Power club: investment, staffing, incoming transfers and management have all been exceptional. There is a truly palpable feeling that the East Midlands side will break into a top six final placing this campaign. If fifth and sixth gear are achieved by Christmas, then the equivalent numbering should legitimately be applied to premiership finishing position.

Jamie Vardy’s family issues

In Brendan Rodgers’ pre-match press conference for the Burnley clash, he explained how Jamie Vardy was given a few days off from training this week. This was due to a bizarre incident involving his and Wayne Rooney’s wife.

Rebekah Vardy was accused of Colleen Rooney of selling her ‘fake’ private Instagram stories to the Sun newspaper. There was then a public back and fourth along with of apparent distress caused on both ends. However, thankfully, the ex-England striker is available for the Foxes on Saturday.

The police were allegedly also called by the Vardys because of press intrusion. Presumably this was around the time the Northern Irishman gave his forward time off from training. You can read more on the topic here, at LCFC Live.
