Naivety, or possibly attempting to get reactions – James Maddison is up to his old tricks off the pitch. It is presumably annoying for Leicester City with Manchester United fans longing.

Leicester City supporters are used to their most prized assets being targeted for transfer by all size of teams. Khun Top Srivaddhanaprabha, owner of the Foxes, along with manager Brendan Rodgers have both stated that the King Power side are no longer a ‘selling club’.

That is music to the faithful’s ears. Regardless of Harry Maguire’s honourable departure and the selfishness of Riyad Mahrez’s maneuvering, generally the stance is realistic and certainly positive in an aspirational sense. Not to mention the exorbitant fees gathered for the previously mentioned players – Maguire especially.

However, Leicester will continue having their most adept athletes linked with moves whichever position the Foxes find themselves in. To be honest, this is a much smaller city in comparison to London, Manchester and Liverpool so it probably will always be the case.

Leicester City, Maddison, Manchester

Foxes of Leicester haven’t scoured the entire internet but we are sure that James Maddison is supposedly admired by Manchester City. Every other top team – Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal – have definitely been associate with at least monitoring the playmaker. If not directly linked by national press.

Although United – and most certainly their thirsty, burdened faithful – seem most likely and determined to secure Maddison’s services. With Leicester’s new policy of attempting to retain their best at any cost, the Red Devils must be prepared to pay towards £100 million.

Now, the former-Norwich man has sent the Man U fans into a longing meltdown after a fairly minor but intentional seeming comment on Instagram. Following an uninspiring draw with the Reds, Marcus Rashford, of United, took to the ‘Gram’ with a typically tedious post:

"“Disappointed not to win but much better from us and good to get on the scoresheet.“We’ll take the positives and build on them. Thanks for the support.”"

Maddison’s comment response, as reported by Express, is brief but can have much read into it. He simply put the clapping hands emoji – though that can lead to a number of speculations. It’s been said that the midfielder is a Man U fan for a start; the clap of appreciation for the club rather than its rival Liverpool is thought-provoking to say the least. This all appears intentionally ambiguous.

Obviously these elements are slightly obscure and may be incorrect. This writer might be reading too much into the response; the two are international team-mates. If Maddison – considered by many as naive or prone to pretension – pursues a switch to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s outfit in January or summer 2020, some will remember these comments as not particularly respectful to Leicester City. The player is good enough to represent either side, some would say the East Midlands side’s prospects are currently better so it’s tough to call.
