Alan Shearer full of praise for Brendan Rodgers
Premier League legend and BBC Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer has praised Brendan Rodgers for instilling an elite culture at Leicester City.
Since taking over the reins at the King Power Stadium, Rodgers has done a phenomenal job. What Claude Puel deemed to be a top ten side is now challenging for a place in the top three, and a previously divided fanbase once again seems like a family.
Plaudits have been flowing in for the Irishman from everywhere, most recently for the record-breaking 9-0 humbling of Southampton on a night when Rodgers’ Leicester revolution culminated in a breathtaking fashion.
The Foxes were quite simply unstoppable and seemed like they could still score more. It was not all down to their ability but the mentality and a culture of hunger, according to Shearer, who picked three Leicester players in his Premier League Team of the Week, with Rodgers as the manager.
"“Many teams would have taken their foot off the gas but Leicester’s manager has instilled a culture that makes his players hungry for more.“The Foxes have one more point at this stage than when they won the title in 2015/16.”"
Just ten games into the season, Rodgers has seen his reputation burgeon and his fans increase. It is not that this was not expected.
He had his doubters, of course, mainly because of his tactical struggles with both Liverpool and Celtic; however, you can see now that he has improved a lot. If he had not, Leicester would not be third in the league.
Rodgers is the reason why Leicester are being taken so seriously. No one wants to play them and everyone wants them to fail. Usually, when that happens, you know you are on your way to achieving something great. This is Rodgers’ time, ladies and gentlemen.
