Crystal Palace v Leicester: Injuries, expected XI, predicted score
Sunday’s Premier League action sees Leicester Visit Crystal Palace in South London. The Foxes are in fine form, but the Eagles are not to be underestimated.
‘What a time to be a Leicester City supporter’, you’ll hear that a lot at the moment. Even from non-Foxes; who’d have thought that would be true just ten or even five years ago?! Third in the Premier League is their current position, which may not be sustainable unless this momentum is maintained. Basically, “We want 10, we want 10!”. Apologies to Southampton.
Brendan Rodgers steadied the ship on arrival; then he ensured a more dynamic form of play which suited the players prevailed. Finally the Northern Irishman strengthened, and retained the talent already at the Foxes’ disposal. This season we’ve almost witnessed an explosion of that quality as it gels wonderfully with class, metal, fluidity and skill throughout the team.
To show how influential Leicester are becoming in the English top-flight: for October James Maddison’s free-kick against Southampton is nominated for Goal of the Month by Budweiser Football. Brendan Rodgers is up for the Barclays premiership Manager of the Month award. Not to mention Youri Tielemans and Jamie Vardy both being selected for a possible EA Sports Player of the Month gong.
Crystal Palace v Leicester City
Having said all that, there is almost three-quarters remaining of the campaign. And next up are often underestimated opponents, Crystal Palace. The South Londoners have been difficult for the East Midlanders to defeat overall in meetings over recent years.
Although, the fact that Rodgers has a completely fit squad to choose from – apart from perpetually injured Matty James – is always a huge bonus before what will surely be a very physical matchup. However, Foxes of Leicester expect a Leicester win – probably by a one goal margin.
This is the Foxes line-up we expect in a 4-3-3 formation; there are no changes from the previous XI versus the Saints: Kasper Schmeichel (c), Ricardo Pereira, Jonny Evans, Caglar Soyuncu, Ben Chilwell, Harvey Barnes, Tielemans, Wilfred Ndidi, Maddison, Ayoze Perez, Vardy.
