Leicester should sign this Championship starlet in January
By Matt Taylor
After a flying start to the season, 16-year-old Jude Bellingham could prove a shrewd investment this January Transfer Window for Leicester City.
With a potentially inflated Winter Transfer Window on the horizon, Leicester City currently have no damning weaknesses to their starting XI, or even their bench for that matter.
Also, with the memory of their record-breaking sale of Harry Maguire to Manchester United still fresh on the minds of Premier League clubs, City can expect to pay a premium on proven talent.
In short, the Foxes will be reluctant to spend big, unless they opt to break the bank on a marquee winger.
However, with notable bargain January signings such as Demarai Gray, Wilfred Ndidi and Daniel Amartey in mind, Leicester may opt to target a promising youngster that will bolster their squad.
Leicester City should monitor Bellingham
Birmingham City’s breakout star this season has undoubtedly been Bellingham, the club’s youngest ever senior player, having made ten senior appearances in the EFL Championship this season.
The England under 17 international has 2 goals in 3 games for the Young Lions, and has piqued the interest of European giants, Bayern Munich.
So far, at the heart of the Blues’ 4-4-2 system, the 16-year-old has registered 2.3 tackles and 2.4 successful dribbles per 90, stats via WhoScored, underlining his well-rounded attributes that could make him a Premier League star in the not-so-distant future.
The youngster has already received high praise in his short but blossoming career, as ex-Birmingham boss, Gary Rowett, gushed about the youngster:
"“He wants to go forward all the time. Again, he wants to play forward, he wants to play and dribble into these areas. He’s always looking to be progressive. That’s the bit I like about him so much.“They’ve developed a lot of players here at Birmingham but they believe he could be the best one yet.”Via Birmingham Mail"
With his contract expiring in 2021, Bellingham could prove a shrewd investment this January for the East Midlanders, adding to their plethora of young English talent.
