Alan Shearer has yet again made sure that Leicester City are well represented in his Premier League Team of the Week.

The Foxes beat Crystal Palace 2-0 to secure their first win over them in six attempts – nearly three seasons to be precise.

While it wasn’t quite a 9-0, Leicester’s calm disposition, strength of character and sheer talent did earn them the three points at last, thanks to goals from Caglar Soyuncu – his first for the club – and Jamie Vardy, who now leads the league’s scoring charts with 10 goals.

And it is the heroes from Selhurst Park who have been picked by Shearer in his TOTW. Sheffield United and Chelsea also have as many players in the XI.

Here’s the team in full:

GK: Ben Foster (Watford)

LB: Enda Stevens (Sheffield United)

CB: Caglar Soyuncu (Leicester City)

CB: Steve Cook (AFC Bournemouth)

RB: Kyle Walker (Manchester City)

LM: Allan Saint-Maximin (Newcastle United)

CM: John Lundstram (Sheffield United)

CM: Jorginho (Chelsea)

RM: Sadio Mane (Liverpool)

ST: Tammy Abraham (Chelsea)

ST: Jamie Vardy (Leicester City)

Manager: Steve Bruce (Newcastle United)

11 games done and Leicester are third in the league with 23 points, level with the fourth-placed Blues and six points above fifth-placed Arsenal.

They have the best defence in the PL and are second only to City for goals scored. Who would argue against the fact that Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester are pretty much everyone’s last choice for an opponent?

Next. “The more I see of Leicester City defender Caglar Soyuncu, the more I like him”. dark

The consistency with which Leicester are playing, almost everything is looking possible this season – and that is scary.
