The amount Celtic received in compensation for the departure of Brendan Rodgers back to English football and Leicester City, has been revealed.

In all honesty whatever Leicester City had to pay for the services of Rodgers and his team – it would seem absolutely justified. Within reason, naturally. Currently the Foxes are in third position in the Premier League; along with completing a spectacular run of nine wins from ten outings.

Under the Northern Irishman Leicester are a vibrant, energetic, confident, dangerous side. Who all seem to enjoy playing under his tutelage; man management appears to come easy to the former-Liverpool manager – who is widely liked in the game. Even holding respect from players he no longer manages.

Celtic to Leicester City

When the then Celtic boss left Celtic Park – as the club was on the precipice of making history, he was vilified in ugly scenes from a minority of idiotic Hoops supporters. However the transition was seamless in Leicester.

According to Celtic’s annual financial report, a fee of £8.8 million was paid for Rodgers and his staff to join the King Power club. This sure feels like one of the best and cleverest appointments in recent Premier League history. The buoyancy around Filbert Way is palpable.

Afterwards there is newly promoted Aston Villa at Villa Park, followed by Norwich in the East Midlands and subsequently Manchester City at Etihad Stadium four days before Xmas.
