Following a thrilling victory over Arsenal, Leicester City claimed Premier League second place, for now. Does Brendan Rodgers think they can win the title?

Five successive wins has Leicester City supporters extremely optimistic; the promise of Brendan Rodgers is seemingly being realized. In fact, the boss had made a great impression and achieved a good set of results when joining in early 2019.

Claude Puel did have essentially the same squad, barring Ayoze Perez. Although the ambition, style and motivational input from the Frenchman was askew. Badly. Rodgers has managed to alter the aspirational belief of the players, back in line with the club’s.

Though every department needed modifying for the Northern Irishman’s vision to come to fruition: backroom staff, training regime, tactically. Not to mention now having content personalities within the squad. The system is much more dynamic, swift and attacking now; while playing to talisman Jamie Vardy’s strengths.

Can Leicester City win the league?

Truthfully, it isn’t impossible. However, with Liverpool’s form and Manchester City’s class it is extremely unlikely that the Foxes will lift the title, as they did in 2015/16. We all witnessed the pair clash on Sunday – they are superior teams, in this writer’s opinion.

Chelsea are possibly a slightly better outfit than the East Midlanders at present, too. The Londoners have more strength in-depth. While starting XIs are comparably very close.

With regards to Leicester’s boss, the former-Reds chief doesn’t appear convinced that his current side can finish first in the top-flight this campaign. Despite being in second at the moment. He does also confirm that a triumph is not even their focus:

"“We’re not thinking about that. We are just thinking about developing the team and making them better, that’s been the same since I came in.“If we can bring European football during my time, that would be great. But it’s credit to the players. They are playing with confidence, with a steel.”– Brendan RodgersVia: Leicester Mercury"
