Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas has advised Arsenal and Manchester United to go for Brendan Rodgers – and no one is shocked, really.

Like the Gunners, United have had a torrid season so far under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who Rio Ferdinand thought had brought the Red Devils of the old times back. A penny for his thoughts.

Speaking of which, some Gooners were also of the opinion that they had got their Arsenal back in Unai Emery’s first season in charge. Sadly, they did get their Arsenal back, just not of the era that they thought they did.

Put very crudely, both United and Arsenal are a wreck. The solution, says Nicholas, is Leicester City boss Rodgers.

"“If Manchester United do not see off Villa, and with games against Tottenham and Manchester City coming up, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be in trouble and I think they should go for Brendan Rodgers too, along with Arsenal,” he wrote for Sky Sports. “Mauricio Pochettino is floating everyone’s boat, but if you look at the real situation of how it has developed, then Rodgers is a better fit for both of those teams than Pochettino is, because he knows how to win trophies.“He won nine domestic titles at Celtic and it might be a lot easier there but he knows how to do it. It is not a case of being insecure, Rodgers has his beliefs and strengths and goes and does it. I would be amazed if Manchester United were not interested in him.”"

Isn’t it amazing how Rodgers was a “bottler” before he had arrived at Leicester, but all of a sudden, he is this wizard who can instantly bring trophies to these mega clubs with mega failures?

You have to marvel at how quickly the media can change the narrative around a manager, or even a player. Even Jose Mourinho had “lost the plot”, but now he, following a couple wins, is somehow back to his best.

Anyway, let us not deviate much. Rodgers is clearly the man for the fallen giants but are they suitable enough for him? For a manager to be successful, those above him, with him and under him have got to match him, too.

Next. Brendan Rodgers would leave Leicester City for Arsenal, says Perry Groves. dark

At United and Arsenal, it does not seem like many of them are up to the mark. Therefore, it has to be a no from Rodgers.
