Despite speculation about Brendan Rodgers leaving Leicester City because of a contract release clause, he has reiterated his commitment to the Foxes.

Are you surprised that Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers is being touted for the most significant managerial positions in English football? At Foxes of Leicester, we expected it and almost welcome the sentiment.

Some people might think the last statement there is a little odd. Yet the interest is symptomatic of major prospective achievement. Being second in the table, pushing Liverpool and Manchester City in search of a title makes it natural. To be successful means – as we’ve witnessed with all of the star players – scrutiny and jealously from other clubs. Along with possible departing personnel.

Leicester City on the up

Leicester sit eight points behind the Reds at present. While the East Midlanders now have a three more than the Citizens, whom sit third. This campaign sees the best start to a top-flight season from Leicester: with 32 points from fourteen games. City’s draw at Norwich City as well as the King Power side defeating Everton 2-1, increased the small gap.

Kelechi Iheanacho made a dramatic and telling contribution in the match against the Toffees. Scoring and assisting in the final minute victory. The Nigerian has been well out-of-favour on Filbert Way so to see him step up and produce on Sunday evening was magical. Well done, “Nacho”.

Rodgers’ status

Due to this impressive form and a contract release clause, Rodgers is being monitored, as mentioned previously. However post-game the Northern Irishman reiterated his commitment to the Foxes, regardless of huge clubs like Arsenal apparently having an interested in attaining his services:

"“It is a huge challenge here [Leicester] to break into the top six. I’ve loved every minute since I’ve come here. We’ve got work to do but I’m excited.“My focus is very much here with Leicester. The club has been first class with me. The project feels very exciting with a lot of development ahead. So my concentration is very much with Leicester.”Via: Guardian"

Rodgers also suggested most managers have a release clause in their deals; last week Telegraph Sport said the Foxes hierarchy value their gaffer at £14 million. It is very unlikely any team will prise him away from Leicester this season.
