Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho is buzzing after his match-winning display off the bench in a 2-1 win over Everton.

The visitors looked set to earn under-pressure Toffees boss Marco Silva a lifeline; however, Iheanacho had other plans in mind.

Just six minutes after he had been brought on, he assisted Jamie Vardy for the equaliser – who scored for the sixth game running – before netting a 94th minute winner to secure a sixth consecutive win for Leicester. Loads of sixes there.

He did, however, have to wait for VAR to overturn the on-field decision as he had been adjudged offside. Once the goal was given, though, it was all ecstasy for the Nigerian.

"“It was a great moment, [it was] my first game of the season and first goal, so I’m really buzzing – I’m happy today,” he told lcfc.com. “It all came from the hard work in training, I’ve been working hard and keeping my head up and waiting for the opportunity to come. I’m happy it came, and I took it.”"

Well, wow. What life does to you. Most of the Leicester fans had forgotten that Iheanacho was still at the club but look at him now. He’s a hero in the East Midlands.

The winner against Everton could go a long way in defining his future at Leicester.

He has been suffering with a lack of confidence and self-belief for quite a while, which is precisely why he needed such a performance to lift himself up.

It was his third goal of the season in as many appearances – yes, that scoring rate is unbelievable – and if he continues to play like that, then he is going to add many more to that tally.

dark. Next. Why Demarai Gray was left out of Leicester City squad for Everton

He will surely get a lot of chances from hereon in given the fixture congestion: whether he buries them all like we hope he does is a question for another week. For now, he can enjoy.
