Ben Chilwell reveals touching inspiration for success: Leicester blog
Ben Chilwell has written a revealing blog about his early life striving to be a footballer. The Leicester City defender also named who helped him the most.
Immediately following the summer 2018 Premier League break is when Ben Chilwell established himself as the undisputed owner of Leicester City’s left-back position. Afterwards he went about ensuring England boss Gareth Southgate knew his name.
Subsequently the No.3 shirt for the Three Lions is now the 23-year-old’s, too. Danny Rose and Luke Shaw may disagree but they are behind in the pecking order, it seems. Only Liverpool’s Andy Robertson is spoken about by fans, observers and pundits as the preeminent premiership left-sided, full-back ahead of the Fox.
Interestingly, in an article for The Player’s Tribune penned personally by Chilwell, he gleefully describes questioning his Scottish counterpart about fundamentals and game knowledge. This took place at Trent Alexander-Arnold’s birthday party. Oh to be a fly on the wall at that bash!
Leicester City Blogger
In the great tradition of, well, us, at Foxes of Leicester, Chilwell is now a certified Leicester City blogger – welcome to the club, bro’. It’s a great team to write about, for sure; the ever ubiquitous Foxes, this writer calls them.
Entitled, ‘This Is What Dreams Are Made Of’, Chilwell fascinatingly explains his beginning in football with honesty and humour. Continuing the wonderful PT style.
The insight into his perseverance is particularly rewarding for us Leicester supporters, who are spoiled with watching the international ply his trade weekly for our beloved side.
Additionally, Chilwell names who inspired and encouraged his hard work the most; including defining how the dream was realized on his debut for the King Power club:
"“I took the elevator up to the lounge and the first thing I saw was my three best friends sitting with my mum, dad and sister. I saw the smiles on their faces and stuff, and yeah, I don’t know exactly how to put into words the feeling I had walking over to them. It gets me a bit emotional just thinking about it now. All I know is I had a big grin on my face, and we didn’t talk about football at all. We talked about the road it took for us to get to that point. Because it’s us, not me, who had reached this moment.”– Ben ChilwellRead the entire article at The Player’s Tribune"
