Former-Leicester City manager Claude Puel recently gave an interview, his time at Leicester City arose. Jamie Vardy received a less than flattering comment.

On Sunday Leicester City defeated Midlands rivals Aston Villa 4-1 at Villa Park, in Birmingham. Jamie Vardy netted a brace, with Jonny Evans and the revitalized Kelechi Iheanacho getting one apiece.

That win meant another record for the currently impenetrable Foxes: eight successive victories in the top-flight. Not to mention the No.9 scoring in his eighth match in a row. Goals in 11 consecutive outings is his best at present.

There are calls from all corners of social media for him to make an international recall. England’s former striker is having an illustrious period of play; especially incredible as this greyhound of an athlete approaches his 33rd birthday. Most Leicester fans would probably choose to have Vardy continue focusing solely on his club football.

It was much different this time last year: Vardy suffered in-match isolation under ex-Foxes gaffer Claude Puel. The Frenchman was shortsighted in his vision on Filbert Way. Tactically and ambition-wise he was also at odds with the chairman, Top Srivaddhanaprabha, as well as Leicester supporters. His negative style in games ensured his main forward became wasted.

Despite Puel honourably believing he had the best intentions for the East Midlands side. By avoiding relegation and hovering around in the lower part of the Premier League – it wasn’t enough.

A lack of intention, rating and potency in cup competition and players effectively not buying into the modus operandi cost the once Monaco man his job. However, while Puel admits he likes the Englishman, the one time Southampton boss did make these slightly inflammatory comments about Vardy recently:

"“I did not have a problem with Jamie. Jamie is a good man but sometimes he is like a child: he needs support, he needs attention. It was difficult for me because I was not English, it was difficult to share and explain all my feelings with him.”– Claude PuelVia: Daily Mail"
